Twitter bans porn from Vine video-sharing platform
Twitter has outlawed the publication of all sexually explicit content from its Vine video-sharing app with immediate effect in a bid to make the platform more family friendly.
The micro-blogging service conceded that ‘a very small percentage’ of content posted on Vine was of an explicit nature, prompting it to include a ‘Report this post’ option for people to flag dodgy material.
Apple has already raised the minimum age for users of the app following prior incidents, including criticism at the apps launch when a pornographic short was erroneously labelled ‘Editor’s Pick’.
A disclaimer in the AppStore warns potential users of ‘frequent/intense sexual content or nudity’.
In a blog post Vine stated: “We introduced Vine to make it easier for people to find, watch, create and share videos right from their mobile phones. As we’ve watched the community and your creativity grow and evolve, we’ve found that there’s a very small percentage of videos that are not a good fit for our community.”
