Motor insurance brand Green Flag has signed a sponsorship deal with Aviva Premiership Rugby for the next two seasons.

Deal: Green Flag will sponsor Aviva Premiership Rugby

The sponsorship is being handled by MediaCom Sport and sister agency MediaCom Beyond Advertising, while PR is being handled by Frank PR.

As part of the deal, Green Flag will give rugby fans free motor ‘health-checks’ in club car parks and by working with local media partners offer exclusive ticket competitions and giveaways. The brand will use the sponsorship to promote its ‘No Matter What’ message.

Mike Bowman, director of Green Flag, said: “We are delighted to become an official sponsor of Premiership Rugby, continuing our proud tradition of supporting the best of British sport.

“We understand how important it is for fans to see their favourite sports and heroes and we know there is nothing worse than breaking down on the way to see your favourite team play. We hope this will raise further awareness of getting people to their destinations, no matter what.”

Dominic Hayes, commercial director of Premiership Rugby, said the deal came ahead of a “golden era” for rugby union in England.

“This season we have seen a huge rise in audiences on both ITV and BT Sport and, in addition to this, our online traffic and social media interaction are also at record levels,” he said.

The news follows last week's announcement from News UK that subscribers to the Sun, the Times and the Sunday Times will have access to Premiership Rugby clips following a rights deal.
