Google+ has joined Manchester United’s starting 11 to offer fans the opportunity to take a virtual pew at the Theatre of Dreams via their Front Row initiative.

The initiative will give international fans the opportunity to sit in on the United vs Liverpool match on Sunday 16 March by appearing in a live Google+ Hangout – a free multi-person video call function, on a custom digital billboard at Old Trafford.

Front Row supporters will join 75,000 flesh and blood ticket holders for the occasion with those interested in attending invited to show their commitment to the club via a Google+ photo tagged ‘#MUFrontRow’.

A handful of the best will be invited to participate in the event, as well as receiving a professional photograph of their appearance and official welcome in front of United’s 2m Google+ followers.

Manchester United’s group managing director, Richard Arnold, said: “This ground-breaking initiative offers a dynamic and innovative way for our fans worldwide to get even closer to the club they love.

“Working with Google we are giving the chance for some of our 659 million followers around the globe to have a unique opportunity to be pitchside at one of the biggest games in world football, something that is a dream for all United fans, no matter where they live.”

Head of Google+ EMEA, Cristian Cussen, added: "For Google, Front Row is an exciting experiment into what the future of supporting your team could be, and we couldn’t think of a greater partner than Manchester United to kick it off.”

The concept has been developed in partnership with creative agency Adam&EveDDB and was produced and delivered by Grand Visual.
