Amazon Prime and Lovefilm to be rebranded as Prime Instant Video

Amazon has announced it is to launch a new subscription streaming and rental service in the UK on Wednesday 26 February, by combining Amazon Prime with Lovefilm

Prime Instant Video will allow subscribers to stream more than 15,000 films and TV episiodes - whilst also benefitting from instant one-day delivery and 500,000 Kindle books.

The service will be offered for £79 a year, or just £49 for those who sign-up during the launch countdown, enabling access to exclusive content such as The Hangover Part II, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, The Walking Dead, and Vikings Season 2.

Tim Leslie, vice president of Amazon Instant Video for the UK and Germany said: “We’ve worked hard to offer the best selection of TV shows and movies for Prime Instant Video—in fact, we’ve more than tripled selection since LOVEFiLM became part of the Amazon family.

“We also added high definition video and introduced apps for popular devices like Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Samsung and Sony TVs and iPads and iPhones. Customers who love movies and TV will love Amazon Prime Instant Video.”

Subscribers will be able to stream and rent content on devices ranging from Kindles, smartphones and tablets to smart TV’s.
