A coffee mad mum who lost her battle against cancer has been buried in a Costa coffee branded coffin commissioned by her family.

In life Karen Lloyd was an insatiable coffee-lover, a habit she’s is continuing in death after her family specified a custom burgundy coffin replete with the Costa logo emblazoned across it and the script: ‘One shot, extra skinny latte’.

The latte lover was famed for clutching an ever present mug of the drink, leading to her being nicknamed ‘Costa Karen’ by friends.

Alan Lloyd, Karen’s husband, said: “She was first class, so friendly and happy, I couldn't have asked for a better wife. She was nicknamed Costa Karen, although I called her Costa Lot!

"The funeral was a celebration of her life and it is good to do it on a humorous side. "When we asked the funeral directors for a Costa Coffee-themed coffin, they said 'you what? We've never done one of those before'".

Lloyd, 51, was diagnosed with breast cancer last June and was buried at Christ Church in Old Town, Swindon, last week.
