Freeview has been teasing us all week with its #catandbudgie ‘What happens next’ trailer, and we certainly didn’t see this coming.

The trail ominously cut off with the cat managing to open the poor budgie’s cage and to be honest we thought the little bird would either be lunch, or about to star in its own version of Sylvester and Tweety Pie…how wrong we were.

Instead it seems the housecat, who we’re reliably informed is called Leo, has a bit of a crush on his feathered friend, and the feeling’s reciprocated.

The unlikely pair’s duet of the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell Mowtown classic ‘You’re all I need to get by’ leaves their baffled owner in a state of shock.

But - just like watching Freeview - she was thoroughly entertained for nowt.

Maybe it’s the hangover from Valentine’s Day but who are we to stand in the way of true love, even if it is between two house pets
