Sky Sports has secured the rights to golf’s PGA Tour until 2022, the broadcaster announced on Monday.

Deal: Sky Sports has secured broadcast rights

The deal will see Sky Sports reach its 30th year of owning the broadcast rights for the US event, and this year will see a heavier focus on providing digital content throughout the tour.

Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sport, said: “This new agreement with the PGA Tour is huge for us, enabling us to guarantee our viewers long term US golf coverage for the next decade.”

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem added: “The Tour and Sky strongly believe in the value of our existing relationship and are excited about the future, a future that includes compelling new content that is tailor-made for tournament telecasts in the UK.”

Sky Sports also broadcasts The Masters and the US Open, and the deal will mean the more than 1,000 hours of live US Tour golf will be available on Sky Sports platforms each year.
