Royal Greenland, a major seafood supplier, has awarded its UK communications contract to specialist food agency Pelican Communications.

Focusing initially on the UK cold water prawn market, Pelican will conduct a number of media-friendly research projects, oversee all food service trade media relations and advise on online strategy.

Harriet Rodgers, associate director at Manchester-based Pelican, said: “We are embarking on a 12 month PR campaign to highlight the benefits chefs and caterers can enjoy when using cold water prawns, including a fresh, delicate taste, value for money and sustainable credentials which can be detailed on menus. Our activity is designed to raise brand awareness and increase product sell-through.”

Ole Kragh Malle, senior project manager at Royal Greenland said: “We selected Pelican on account of their excellent food service credentials, their in-depth understanding of the complexities of the market, their industry and media contacts, and the drive and passion they demonstrated for our business.”

Royal Greenland is the world’s largest producer of high quality cold water prawns, currently selling around 600 tonnes every year to the UK food service, retail and industrial market.
