People On The Move: CEO named at BMB, New teams for Havas and Adbrain and Denise West joins DC Thomson

Havas Worldwide London has announced that three creatives from DLKW Lowe will be joining the agency, following the appointment of former-Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO creative partner, Mark Fairbanks, as its new creative chief. Christian Sewell and Andy McAnaney join as creative directors with Jamie Craven taking on the role of head of design. Whilst at DLKW Lowe Sewell and McAnaney - as head of art and creative director respectively – worked on a number of high profile accounts including The RAF, Trainline, Legoland and Cif. Prior to DLKW Lowe both worked at DDB on the Harvey Nichols, VW Beetle and NABS accounts.

Beattie McGuinness Bungay has appointed Juliet Hay­garth, managing director of Brothers and Sisters, as the agency's first chief executive. She will take up the position from March, running the agency alongside Neal Fairfield, executive planning director, and Matt Waller, executive creative director.

Rakuten Marketing has appointed Jessica Joines to the newly created role of chief marketing officer, as the company unveils its new omnichannel technology platform, Cadence. Joines is founder and managing partner of the Digital Media Review. In her new role, she will hold responsibility for Rakuten Marketing’s global marketing and public relations efforts.

Adbrain, the multi-screen ad platform, has appointed Paul Gubbins to the company as head of business development, as well as François Deschênes joining as director of product development and Elisa Huh taking up the role of director of global client services. Previously head of display at Weve, Gubbins is also a member of the IAB Mobile RTB Working Group. Deschênes, who has more than eight years of software and product development experience, joins Adbrain from InMobi, while Huh joins from Turn, where she launched its EMEA operations from the UK.

MediaCom’s Stefan Bardega has been appointed chief digital officer at ZenithOptimedia. Bardega will work with the agency’s partner companies, including Google and Facebook, when he takes up the role in March, and will develop its mobile and online video offering. He moves from his position as managing partner at MediaCom, at which he launched MediaCom Beyond Advertising in 2009, a network content division that has since rolled out globally.

Bite, the communications, content and community agency, has appointed Lou Cooper, previously a features writer for Marketing Week, to its team.Cooper will join the content teamPreviously, Cooper has written for titles including The Daily Mail and City AM.

Absolute, the Bolton based integrated creative agency, has appointed Simon Allman as creative director. Allman previously held the role of design director at Origin Creative in Manchester, working with clients such as the BBC, United Utilities, Henri-Lloyd, Brother and Manchester United.

Havas Media Group, has appointed Mike Potts as its first chief data officer after a recent restructure. In the new role, Potts will head-up all of Havas Media Group’s data and marketing technology teams, including DBi. Potts previously worked for Coca Cola, Travelstore.com and Expedia before launching ElisaDBi.

Publishing house DC Thomson has named Denise West as head of commercial, commencing March 2014. Formerly managing director at Trinity Mirror North, West will manage and develop commercial activities across DC Thomson’s newspaper business. West has previously worked for Thomson Regional Newspapers, The Scotsman Publications and Scottish Daily Record. She left the company after 17 years to join DC Thomson.

Gumtree.com has appointed Hannah Wilson as head of marketing, replacing Hamish Stone, who has moved within parent company eBay to Amsterdam to become director of automotive at Marktplaats. Wilson also moves from within eBay, having previously served as head of UK marketing and will report to Robin Voogd, UK general manager of Gumtree.

Wunderman, the global digital agency, has named Marcus Reynolds as a strategy director. Reynolds, who was most recently global digital strategy director at Ogilvy & Mather, will lead strategy on the company’s Microsoft and Jaguar accounts. Reynolds previously worked as digital strategy director at Fallon, where he worked on integrated campaigns for ŜKODA and Cadbury. He has consulted for AKQA, Proximity and Karmarama and was also head of planning at Publicis Dialog.

PayPoint has appointed Steve O’Neill to the newly created position of marketing director for its retail networks in the UK and Ireland. O’Neill, who was formerly head of retail marketing at HSBC, will be responsible for the development of PayPoint’s strategic marketing, consumer insight and brand development agendas.

Tribal Worldwide’s head of strategy and user experience Phil Dearson is to leave the agency to join digital learning and development company Henderson Kite as partner. Dearson, who has spent nearly two decades working for agencies, will now be responsible for helping developing the new company, alongside its founder and former head of digital at Starcom MediaVest Jeremy Hill. During his time at Tribal Worldwide Dearson worked across clients including Guinness, O2, Morrisons, Giffgaff, Fitness First and Volkswagen. Henderson Kite counts the BBC, MEC, Asos, Sky, and McDonald's among its clients.

Midlands based creative agency Chapter has appointed Alastair Marchant to the senior role of chapter head, where he will lead a multi-discipline team. Marchant joins Chapter following nine years with Big Communications where he held the post of Account Director.

Satya Nadella, executive vice-president of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group, has been announced as the next CEO of Microsoft, effective immediately. Taking over from Steve Ballmer, who announced plans to step down last year, the announcement follows months of speculation.

PHD business director Charlotte Taylor will join Guardian News and Media (GNM) as client planning director in March. Reporting to GNM’s commercial director, Nick Hewat, Taylor will be leading a team responsible for developing client and agency planner relationships.

Ben Clapp, Profero's executive creative director, has joined GreyPossible as executive creative director and Grey London as deputy executive creative director. Clapp has made the move on from the recently acquired digital agency after just under two years to become GreyPossible's first executive creative director.
