BT TV adds to box office rental proposition with buy-t0-keep movies service
BT TV is to offer customers using its YouView box buy-to-keep movies in addition to its rental offering.
Customers will now be able to purchase blockbuster titles from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, as well as modern greats and classics.
“We are delighted to have reached this agreement with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The new service gives you even more choice. You can buy the latest blockbusters and they’re yours to keep forever. And you can watch them as many times as you like,” said Alex Green, BT TV director.
Available in Digital HD and SD HD titles will be charged at £8.99, with SD the cheaper option at £5.99. Movies bought from BT will be available for streaming instantly via the customers set-top box, they can then keep the film indefinitely to watch as many times as they please.
Robert Price, UK managing director at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, said the agreement with BT TV complimented “Fox’s strategy of fostering easy, affordable and accessible ways for film fans to enjoy their favourite movies”.
SVP, international digital distribution, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Pete Wood, added: “We’re excited to partner with BT TV. It’s great to be able to offer customers the newest Sony Pictures Home Entertainment films, and we look forward to growing our relationship with BT TV.”
BT TV plans to expand the service to include TV box sets over the coming months.
