Ocado has announced its co-founder and senior marketer Jason Gissing will leave the company in May 2014 after its Annual General Meeting.

The online grocer has undergone a series of changes in its operating management team over the past few years. It is not yet clear whether Gissing will be replaced.

Tim Steiner, fellow co-founder and Ocado CEO said: “I have worked with Jason for 20 years. Jason has led the development of our brand, and helped shape the culture inside Ocado and the way we are perceived by our customers. After our IPO he focused almost exclusively on marketing and cultural matters before taking on the role of commercial director.”

The announcement comes after the company reported a loss of £12.5m in 2013, compared to a £0.6m loss the year before. Despite this, sales rose overall 18.6 per cent to £843m during the year.

Earlier this month, Ocado partnered with Morrisons’ to launch the supermarket’s online grocery service.
