Gumtree.com has appointed Hannah Wilson as head of marketing, replacing Hamish Stone, who has moved within parent company eBay to Amsterdam to become director of automotive at Marktplaats.

Wilson also moves from within eBay, having previously served as head of UK marketing and will report to Robin Voogd, UK general manager of Gumtree.

“Hannah joins us at an exciting time in our development. We’ve recently expanded our motors category with the launch of our professional dealer package, and this year we’re focusing even more attention on what we do best: second-hand goods for sale. Hannah brings great skills and experience from her six years at eBay, and will help to guide us on our way to becoming a top 10 website,” said Voogd.

Wilson added: “Gumtree has grown at an astonishing rate in recent years, but there’s still plenty of room to improve. The team are kicking off this year with a new TV and radio campaign, and our developers are hard at work making our site easier to access across all platforms. I’m excited to join a strong team, and look forward to contributing to Gumtree’s continued success in 2014.”

Sam Diamond, who has held the role of head of marketing for an interim period, will support Wilson as head of brand and communications.

The upcoming marketing campaign is scheduled to begin on 19 February.
