Facebook reports 63% revenue increase as advertising revenue rises by 76%

Facebook saw its revenue rise by 63 per cent to $2.59bn, profits of $523m and a 76 per cent increase in advertising revenue for its fourth quarter of the year to $2.34bn.

The social media giant's mobile advertising revenue grew by around 53 per cent.

Daily active users in December of last year was an average of 757 million, up by 22 per cent, while mobile daily active users were up by 49 per cent, with an average of 556 million for the same month.

Monthly active users in December were 1.23 billion by the end of the year, up by 16 per cent, while mobile monthly users increased by 39 per cent to 945 million.

"It was a great end to the year for Facebook," said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO. "We're looking forward to our next decade and to helping connect the rest of the world."

The full-year revenue for 2013 was $7.87bn, up by 55 per cent, while total year sales and marketing revenue was $997m, up from $896m in 2012.

The company will celebrate its 10 year anniversary next Tuesday.
