Vodafone has confirmed that it is reviewing its existing media planning and buying account, estimated to be worth £600m.

A spokesperson for the telecommunications provider told The Drum that the decision comes “five years after the last global review” and is “in-keeping with good corporate practice, following the advancements in the media and digital landscape”.

Incumbent OMD was retained to the international media planning and buying account in August 2009, beating Team Red to the account who had been appointed the previous year.

In addition to working with OMD globally, the brand also works in some markets with local media agencies.

Vodafone revealed to The Drum that a “thorough review process” would be completed during the first half of the year, with incumbent agencies to continue providing their services until further notice.
