Apple extends iPad education content to over 70 countries

Technology giant Apple has announced that it is to make its suite of education software; including iBooks, Textbooks and iTunes U Course Manager available to students in more than 70 countries.

The global drive will see iBooks and Textbooks, platforms which specialise in interactive videos and animation, available in 51 territories from Brazil to Japan whilst a teaching aid for sharing courses from classroom to classroom, iTunes U Course Manager, will be rolled out to 70 nations including Russia and Thailand.

Apple states that close to 25,000 educational titles have been published on its platforms by independent publishers such as Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press and Hodder Education.

Peter Marshall, Managing Director, ELT Division at Oxford University Press said: “OUP is using iBooks Author for Headway, Oxford’s all-time best-selling English language series, to create engaging iBooks Textbooks for iPad.

“In releasing 13 new iBooks Textbooks, including ‘Headway Pre-Intermediate,’ the best-selling level in the series, we are enriching the language learning experience for students around the world.”
