Barratt Developments has appointed independent agency Zone to handle its six-figure plus digital account, replacing incumbent DigtiasLBi.

The work for the housebuilder, which starts immediately, will include improving Barratt’s content management strategy across all platforms, its website interactivity and use of rich media and its engagement strategy, with the aim to encourage new and repeat visitors to the Barratt site.

Jeremy Hipkiss, group sales and marketing director for Barratt, said: “We needed an agency which, like us, is keen to make waves in its field. Zone has the right sort of ambition, high calibre technical expertise, commercial creativity and market-leading client credentials to work closely with us to deliver a digital strategy which will lead the property sector by a significant margin.”

Zone has been tasked with ensuring Barratt’s online experience stands out in both the new build and second hand market.

Jon Davie, Zone managing director, said: “Digital is transforming consumer behaviour in the property sector, just like any other. Barratt needs to have a presence at every stage in the customer journey - from research, through to active browsing, consideration and then the purchase process.”

Zone, voted one of The Drum’s independent agencies of 2013, was appointed following a six way pitch.
