Jai Singh, the editor-in-chief at Yahoo, has quit.

News of his departure has come less than 24 hours after it was confirmed that Henrique de Castro, Yahoo chief operating officer, had also left the company. Rumours have since circulated that he had been fired by CEO Marissa Mayer following months of friction.

Singh had been at Yahoo since 2011, when he joined from Huffington Post where he was managing editor.

Prior to that, he created CNET News.com.

According to a Yahoo memo cited by Re/code, replacing Singh and leading the media unit will be chief marketing officer, Kathy Savitt.
