Facebook and NBC have inked a content sharing deal around the Sochi Winter Olympics.

NBC, the only American rights holder to broadcast the games, is looking to pull in more viewers though the deal while Facebook hopes to establish itself as the hub of conversations around the games.

Facebook and Instagram posts will be included during NBC live broadcasts while the official NBC Olympics page on Facebook is set to feature videos offering an inside look into the games and athletes participating.

Further content includes polls, photo galleries, trivia and other shareable information that will be made available on the Facebook page in the run up to the start of the event on 6 February.

In addition, NBC commentators, including former figure skating gold medalist Sara Hughes, have been lined up to answer questions from Facebook users during primetime broadcasts from the Olympics.
