Publicis Groupe-owned agency VivaKi has promoted Geoff Smith to the newly created role of UK general manager for its addressable media-buying arm Audience On Demand (AOD).

Smith, who was previously head of activation for AOD in the UK – a role he held for more than two years – will become part of the VivaKi EMEA leadership team in his new remit.

He will be also responsible for developing and managing the UK arm of the trade desk, while helping drive strategy across the wider global network.

Prior to joining VivaKi in 2011 he was technology consulting director at MEC and at GroupM.

VivaKi’s executive managing director for EMEA Marco Bertozzi said: “Geoff has shaped the business we have today, been an excellent partner for me in the UK and is a great leader of our team in the UK. I cannot think of a better person to drive the strategy and commercial side of our business and ensure that make sure 2014 is the biggest year ever for us.”

His promotion follows a series of other senior hires for AOD, having appointed Anke Kuik to head up its Amsterdam-based Activation hub in the newly created role of director of activation for its trading desk Audience On Demand (AOD) last spring.

Meanwhile it also appointed Meagan Lopez to the newly created role of brand relations manager for AOD in the UK last September.

Last December Vivaki launched a premium, programmatic online ad service, created to encourage more brand advertiser spend into the real-time bidding (RTB) environment. Honda and eOne were the first brands to take advantage of the new capabilities.
