EMAP group commercial director Chris Campbell has been named as Gumtree.com’s new head of classified, with Alison Pascoe also joining the company to head up its display advertising sales.

Campbell will take responsibility for growing Gumtree’s recruitment, property and services revenues, both onsite and through professional accounts. During his 10 years working in online classified sales Campbell has headed up a number of large sales operations in the recruitment and business services industries.

Campbell said: “We have an exciting task ahead of us and I’m delighted to use my experience to further develop Gumtree’s offering. We already have a hugely popular classifieds sales offering and I’m looking forward to raising our presence in the industry.”

Pascoe’s appointment sees her tasked with managing Gumtree’s display advertising operation as well as providing strategic direction for the business. She joins Gumtree from a sales and marketing background, having worked on projects at Hibu and Microsoft.

She commented: “I’ve watched Gumtree grow over the last few years and I’m staggered at how quickly it has become so well known. Gumtree is a publisher at the forefront of the advertising ecosystem; leveraging technology and its fast growing audience to offer valuable routes to market for many advertisers.”

Both Campbell and Pascoe will report to B2C director of Gumtree UK, Matt Barham, who revealed that the appointments were made in order to help Gumtree achieve its ambition of being “a top 10 UK website by 2016.”
