DC Thomson has poached Newsquest Herald & Evening Times head of events Alison Martin to head up its own events department.

Martin, who will join the Dundee-headquartered publisher of the Press & Journal and The Sunday Post at the end of January, will be tasked with developing the event offering, which already includes the Press and Journal Energy Ball and the Courier Business Awards, which launched last year.

She will also be required to grow the portfolio of events as the publisher aims to increase its revenue through the division.

Martin spent nearly 14 years working at the Glasgow based publisher, but is understood to have left her position at the end of last year.

Newsquest Herald & Evening Times is now recruiting for her successor.
