Facebook has released its top tips for targeting shoppers this Christmas with targeted advertising campaigns.

Figures from Facebook have suggested that more than one in 10 (12 per cent) UK visitors to Facebook have bought a gift after seeing it in their News Feed, therefore high on its list of top tips is to ‘optimise imagery specifically for Facebook’.

The social giant also suggested businesses tailor copy and imagery to a target audience, but advised them to keep it short and sweet.

Other priorities should be to ‘choose the bidding method most appropriate to your Christmas campaign objectives’ and ‘when setting your max bids, consider increased auction competition’. Finally, businesses need to ‘test and learn’.

Overall, Facebook said retailers must ‘be clear about what you want your Facebook ads to achieve, and based on these objectives identify specific success metrics for your campaign’.
