Britvic, the soft drinks company, has appointed Matt Barwell as chief marketing officer, tasking him with leading its global marketing, innovation and sustainability strategies.

Barwell has joined from Diageo, where he has worked in both regional and international roles for over a decade. He has served as global marketing director for its J&B Whisky brand and marketing director for Diageo's Italian operations, and was most recently marketing and innovation director for Diageo Western Europe.

CEO Simon Litherland said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Matt, who is joining Britvic at a hugely exciting time for our business. As we continue our focus on building truly global brands, Matt will not only have a critical role to play in building brand equity across our international territories but will also be responsible for ensuring that our sustainable business strategy is fully embedded throughout Britvic.”

Barwell will officially join Britvic in January.
