The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has unveiled its redesign for its catch up iView TV service with its ABC iView app for Android.

He app features an enhanced search function, the Watchlist feature, and from early 2014 will include the option to set iView to display only programs suitable for children.

“The Android app marks the beginning of an exciting new direction for iview and ABC TV online, with a beautifully redeveloped service set to showcase an outstanding slate of local programs in 2014, commissions exclusive to iview, and full series online for the ultimate binge TV viewing experience”, said, Richard Finlayson, Director of Television.

Arul Baskaran, Controller TV Multiplatform said: “ABC iview on Android has been the most requested service since the launch of ABC iView on iPad and iPhone.”

He added: “The demand is reflective of the explosive growth of the mobile internet. More than half of iView’s record 19 million monthly plays are now occurring on tablets and phones.”

The platform will remain ad-free.
