Renault has unveiled its latest video stunt, showing two electric cars racing on a giant Scalextric track in London.

The video, created by Scorch London, and planned by Manning Gottlieb OMD, shows two Zoe models driven by remote control from inside a helicopter following the electric cars above the city.

Matt Lamprell, digital brand communications manager at Renault UK, said: “Zoe is an amazing car, so we wanted to come up with a suitably special way to showcase it. The idea of creating a giant Scalextric track on the streets of London was a perfect fit, allowing us to demonstrate Zoe’s dynamism, but also its beauty. The video is something truly memorable and unique.”

The video hopes to enjoy similar viral success as Renault’s Clio ‘experiential ad’ earlier this year that saw test drivers activating the fictional “Va Va Voom button” feature in the car to set in motion a ‘too hot for TV’ street performance.

“Creating shareable video content has been a key part of our planning and strategy for Renault UK this year,” added Lauren Fisher, senior planner at Manning Gottlieb OMD. “When Scorch London suggested this video stunt, we absolutely had to do it. Not only is it compelling, highly sharable content, it also showcases the exhilarating experience and beauty of the Zoe.”

The campaign will be seeded online only by Unruly and BeOn.
