Ryanair’s 2013 calendar featuring its female cabin crew in bikinis has been labelled ‘sexist’ by a Spanish judge, but the airline has no plans to pull its 2014 edition.

Following complaints from a consumer group, Ryanair was taken to court in April this year over adverts for its 2013 charity calendar.

Despite Ryanair’s claims that calendar sales had raised €100,000 (£84,000) for charity, the judge ruled that the promotional adverts treated women as objects and were discriminatory, adding that Ryanair must publish the judgement at its own expense.

A spokesman for the low-cost airline said it would appeal the decision, but said that it didn’t effect the 2014 cabin crew calendar, released last month.

"This case and ruling only relates to specific adverts run in November and December 2012 and has no effect on Ryanair's continuing charity work or our current 2014 cabin crew charity calendar," he said.

The proceeds from the 2014 calendar will go towards Teenage Cancer Trust.
