Globe Education has awarded its design identity brief from community project Our Theatre to Embrace for the third year in a row.

Held at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2014, Our Theatre engages primary and secondary school students from the local area of Southwark in Shakespeare.

With support from PwC, each school will work with a Globe Education practitioner over 15 weeks to devise and rehearse this year’s theme ‘Seven Ages of Shakespeare’, culminating in an ensemble performance on the Globe stage in February 2014.

Savitri Patel, learning projects manager at Globe Education, said: “The 2014 production is particularly exciting as we’re celebrating the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth and, thanks to the generosity of PwC in confirming funding for the next three years; we’re thrilled to be looking forward to delivering 10 years of Our Theatre.”

To create the design identity for ‘Seven Ages of Shakespeare’ Embrace will work with students and the Globe Education team to produce the brand identity in the same way it managed the creation of The Winter’s Tale in 2013 and Romeo and Juliet in 2012.

Embrace strategy and planning director, Paul Turner, added: “It is often said ‘don’t work with children’, however here is a wonderful example of why you should! This is a rewarding experience for all who partake and that includes Embrace. Our workshops engage young people in learning about design, making it relevant, enjoyable and part of a rich cultural arts experience. We are delighted to have been awarded this work for a third year.”

Our Theatre is free to all participating schools.
