Prior to Mail Online, O'Neal was part of the founding team at Datran Media and has also held executive positions at Sony Online Entertainment and CD-Now.

The appointment of O’Neal marks the latest step in Adaptly’s international expansion strategy and is the result of its aim to help brands capitalise on growing social media audiences.

“Sean brings nearly 20 years of marketing and technology experience to Adaptly,” said Adaptly CEO and co-founder Nikhil Sethi.

“We are entering into an incredibly exciting stage of our growth and Sean’s extensive experience with scaling businesses will help us to continue our rapid acceleration.”

The company has also seen its mobile spending spike from less than five per cent in 2012 to over 70 percent in 2013.

“Adaptly is one of the most innovative companies in the space,” said O’Neal “I look forward to being a part of this world-class organisation.”

The appointment of O’Neil marks the beginning of a new chapter in the expansion of Adaptly, so all eyes will be on the direction he takes their social media initiatives.
