AzkoNobel has appointed Matt Pullen as marketing and sales unit director, decorative paints UK and Ireland.

Appointment: Matt Pullen will begin role in January

Pullen replaces Guy Williams on 1 January 2013, although Williams will continue for a short time to ensure a smooth handover.

Pullen, who first joined the company in 2010, said: “The chance to lead the UK and Ireland business is a great opportunity and I am really excited to be appointed into the role.

“I know it comes with a huge responsibility to continue the great success we have had over many years in the UK and Ireland and to contribute to the future success of AzkoNobel decorative paints globally.”

The appointment comes as the company confirmed that it has agreed to sell 67 of its 72 German decorative paint stores to five independent wholesale distributors, which is will form strategic partnerships with.

Three of the remaining five stores will close, with a deal expected to be made at the end of the month to sell the other two.

AzkoNobel said the development was part of its “global drive for operational excellence”.
