Sky Sports F1 named ‘Best TV Broadcaster’ by FIA
Sky Sports F1 was named ‘Best TV Broadcaster Award for Outstanding Coverage’ at the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) awards last night, marking the second time it has been presented with the accolade since it launched in 2012.
The ceremony, which recognises every branch of motor sport, was held in Paris with CEO of Formula One Management, Bernie Ecclestone, presenting Sky with the award.
Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: “To win this award twice in two years is a great honour and recognition for the incredible hard work of our Sky Sports F1 production team. The award reflects the passion we have for innovation, creativity and production standards, not just in Formula 1 but across all our sports. We aim to provide the best quality coverage as well as best set of rights and we’re very proud to receive such recognition.”
Sky was commended for its live coverage of all Grand Prix, including the world-first live 3D coverage of the third winter test earlier this year, as well as the practice and qualifying sessions in the 2013 season. It was also recognised for the in-depth coverage given on Sky Sports News HD, skysports.com and @skysportsf1.
