People on the move: Shane Heenan joins Blipfoto, Mail promotes Kate Scally and Havas makes senior appointments

Blipfoto, the photo-journal site, has brought in Shane Heenan to head up its sales and marketing division. Heenan – a former commercial development manager at Vodafone's Global Enterprises division – has taken on the newly created position of director of sales and marketing, becoming responsible for Blipfoto's customer acquisition internationally as well as its marketing and PR activity.

Julia Conroy has been promoted to the role of UK PR and marketing director at marketing and technology agency DigitasLBi. In the newly-created role Conroy will work to raise the agency’s profile in the UK and will continue to drive its PR and communications strategy, taking on formal responsibility for UK marketing activity including awards, events and speaking arrangements.

Having spent the past eight years in various roles at BBH, Richard Powell, has been brought in as managing partner at Karmarama. Powell most recently served as managing partner and head of content at BBH Singapore. He also worked as content director at BBH London between 2005 and 2009. In addition to Powell, 180 Amsterdam’s Michelle Hopkins has been named head of project management. Hopkins was client services director at 180 Amsterdam before joining Karmarama, working across high-profile accounts including the global Asics account, and the DHL and Qatar Airways accounts.

Bauer Media UK has appointed Richard Dunmall as its new MD, advertising, to lead sales across Bauer’s portfolio of platform brands which include heat, Kiss, Grazia, Empire, Magic and Closer.

S1's managing director Mark Smith is to become managing director of Newsquest Digital Media. He will replace Roger Green who is set to retire.

Steve Auckland has been reappointed managing director of Metro, taking over from Linda Grant who announced her departure last week. Auckland returns to the company having previously led Metro in the same role from February 2002 to March 2011.

Mail Publishing has promoted Kate Scally to the newly created role of head of marketing and communications.

1HQ has announced that Kevin Johnson has joined the agency as executive creative director as part of its expansion strategy for 2014. Johnson, who most recently served as creative strategy director at Seymour Powell, has held roles in the US and Europe for major companies including Landor San Francisco, Coley Porter Bell, and Identica delivering work for clients such as Unilever, Diageo, Nestle and Mondelez.

Havas EHS has announced three senior appointments to its team, following a series of business wins. Peter Sells joins the agency as head of mobile, having previously built mobile channels at MTV Europe before setting up BBH’s mobile offering. Simon Nixon, previously head of Aqueduct’s sport division, has been appointed to the role of technology director and to lead the agency’s UX division. Finally, Brendon McCabe will assume another newly created role of head of delivery, having been director of production at StoryWorldwide and previously project director at Wunderman.

Meanwhile Havas Worldwide London has appointed Emily Somers as MD, joining from Leo Burnett.

Chris Baylis has joined Iris Worldwide from Tribal DDB and executive creative director.
