The Australian Capital Territory has unveiled its new proposed logo and ‘Brand Canberra’ campaign, at a cost of $2.6 million. The brand campaign was unveiled at a ceremony in the ACT last night. The public is being invited to give feedback on the brand during a three month consultative phase, ahead of the proposed rollout in March 2014. It was designed by Canberran agency Coordinate.“When we started thinking about the lasting legacy from our centenary year, it became clear that we really needed to capitalise on the community and city pride that has emerged over the last 12 months,” said ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher.“This is not about just giving Canberra a new logo. Our city ‘brand’ has to be a collective idea – and a collective advocacy – about who we are and what we have to offer – a brand which truly represents what Canberra is all about.”The acronym CBR is said to represent the slogan : “Confident, Bold, Ready.”ACT Treasurer Andrew Barr said the branding followed on from the launch of South Australia’s state brand last year.“This is consistent with what most cities are undertaking around the world and in Australia,” he said. The brand design is inspired by the international airport abbreviation for Canberra.
