BSkyB reappoints James Murdoch as director
James Murdoch has been reappointed as director of BSkyB, with support of 96 per cent of the shareholders.
Murdoch stepped down from his position as chairman in April 2012 following allegations of phone hacking within the News Corp business when he was in charge News International.
Investor advisory firm Pirc was against the move, saying: "We consider James Murdoch's conduct, including his failure to initiate action on his own account on a number of occasions, to be both difficult to comprehend and ill-judged.
"In our view, James Murdoch's conduct … repeatedly fell short of the exercise of responsibility to be expected of him as CEO and chairman."
BSkyB CEO Jeremy Darroch was also elected as a board member at the annual general meeting, which took place on Friday 22 November in Edinburgh.
