Facebook removes Pixies frontman pic with wife as it ‘violates community standards’
The frontman of the iconic rock group The Pixies, Frank Black, has posted a photograph of a notification from Facebook to his 50,000 + Twitter followers, which apparently shows that the photograph has been removed from Facebook for a violation of its community guidelines. The photograph is a selfie of Black and wife Violet Clark, framed from the shoulders upwards, in the act of smoking a cigarette. The picture appears to have been taken several years ago.Black posted the notification without comment.Facebook has recently become embroiled in a public debate about the standards it applies to users’ postings.Yesterday, Simon Milner, policy director for Facebook in the UK and Ireland, told the Culture Media and Sport committee of the UK Parliament that Facebook’s publication of videos of beheadings was currently being refined.“We think there’s a place for people to share that content in the right context,” he told the committee.Facebook’s community standards impose limitations on content under the headings of violence and threats, self-harm, bullying and harassment, hate speech, graphic content, nudity and pornography, identity and privacy, intellectual property, phishing and spam and security.Black subsequently confirmed that he had boycotted Facebook, claiming that Twitter and Instagram are "much better".
An apparent violation of community standards
@MrBlackFrancis yup. But, beheadings are still allowed. Right?

@dragonbearjules I have. It's from my wife's account. So nice to not have that burden anymore. Twitter not so bad. Instagram much better.
