ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… jungle jolly format is showing no sign of losing its sheen amongst Twitter users after the opening episode of the latest series drew 60 per cent more traffic than last seasons opener.

Chatter was driven primarily by an appearance of Joey Essex on the tried and tested format after he scored more mentions than the official #imacelebrity hashtag courtesy of his freshly coined term ‘confrontate’.

Broadcast last night at 21:00 the show’s mentions peaked in the first 15 minutes courtesy of the birth of the newest word in the English language before settling down to a steady hum during the show’s 90 minutes.

In total some 363,672 folk logged into Twitter to share their thoughts, sharing a total of 718,788 tweets between them according to analysis published by SecondSync.
