Apple has launched iAd Workbench, a service which lets developers promote their services via ads on the Apple app store, in the UK.

The move means UK developers can now promote their apps via Apple devices including iPhone and iPad via a single online system to their developer accounts.

They can build in-app banner ads, choose a target audience, and also track and analyse each campaign’s performance.

Developers can pay on a per-click basis, and can also track downloads. The ads are served via an auction-based marketplace, in which developers must bid for the best positions.

iAd Workbench has also rolled out to other European countries including France, Italy, Spain and Germany.

Apple has a UK sales team which works with brands and advertisers on the iAd platform. The team is led by former Omnicom digital chief Paul Wright, who took over as director of EMEA for iAd earlier this year.

iAd is the name for Apple's mobile advertising platform.
