A campaign to force The Sun newspaper to ditch its long-running Page 3 feature has claimed to have secured the backing of almost two dozen of the UK’s colleges and universities which have announced they will boycott the paper until it moves to ditch the use of topless models.

The No More Page 3 camoaign announced the action over student concerns that such content was inappropriate for display in university shops.

To date it has said that LSE, UCL, Manchester Met, Manchester University, Chester, Abertay, Birmingham City, Edinburgh, York St John, Dundee, Stirling, Cardiff, Durham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Essex, Cambridge University, University of East Anglia, Brasenose College, St Hugh’s College, New College, University College and Teddy Hall Oxford, are all set to boycott the News UK tabloid over its use of Page 3 models.

The Sun’s editor, David Dinsmore, has remained defiant however pointing out that many women fully support the feature.
