A source at Apple has told Bloomberg news that the company is developing a new, larger iPhone.

The larger iPhone will launch next year

The redesign will reportedly include a larger screen with enhanced sensors designed to differentiate between lighter and firmer touches, which will trigger different functionalities on the phone.

There are reportedly two models due for release late next year. They are also said to include curved screens, similar to the recently released new Samsung Galaxy.

“With screens of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, the two new models would be Apple’s largest iPhones,” Bloomberg reported.

“The new Apple handsets are still in development and plans haven’t been completed,” it added.

“Testing continues on the pressure-sensitive technology, which is unlikely to be ready for the next iPhone release and is instead planned for a later model.”

Last week it was reported that Apple held a little over 40% of the smartphone market, increasing slightly during 2013.
