Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been publically defended by his wife following publication of a new book which takes a critical look at the online retailer.

The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon by Brad Stone profiles the billionaire businessman in a not always positive light but has received rave reviews not least from Amazon itself.

One reader who was not a fan however is MacKenzie Bezos, married to Jeff Bezos for 20 years, who was moved sufficiently to write a 900 word critique of the work titled ‘I wanted to like this book’ to justify her one star review.

In it Mrs Bezos, herself a novelist, wrote: “The book passes off speculation about his thoughts and intentions as fact”, adding that Stone resorted to techniques which ‘stretch the boundaries of non-fiction”.

Responding to the withering review Stone remarked: “To the extent that I made any mistakes, I will correct them. I can assure you I have less biases than Jeff Bezos’s wife.”
