General Motors brings in former BMW head of strategy to lead Cadillac’s marketing efforts
General Motors has appointed Uwe Ellinghaus as global chief marketing officer of its Cadillac brand as it looks to expand in international markets.
Ellinghaus was most recently executive vice president of marketing and sales at Montblanc International and held several marketing posts during a 14-year career at BMW including two years as head of brand strategy.
"Cadillac has a new momentum and energy, embodied in its new products," Ellinghaus said in the statement. "This creates a unique opportunity to build the brand globally."
Ellinghaus replaces Don Butler, who left the company three months ago for personal reasons around the same time the brand reviewed its digital, creative and media accounts, bringing in a trio of Interpublic shops to replace Publicis Groupe's Fallon.
Ellinghaus assumes the role on January 1.
