Royal Mail has announced the launch of a TV advertising campaign celebrating its postmen and women as they happily do their rounds – on the same day the Communication Workers Unions agreed to halt strike action over pay and pensions.

The ‘We Love Parcels’ campaign will launch with a 60-second TV advert on 2 November during the X Factor, and a 30-second Christmas version will begin broadcasting as Christmas approaches.

The announcement came as CWU agreed to halt a 24-hour strike planned for 4 November on behalf of its members at Royal Mail after progress was made in negotiations with the recently-privatised service.

The advertising campaign, created by Beta London, features the Beatles song ‘All You Need is Love’ sung by the Royal Mail choir, while all the workers seen in the ads are Royal Mail employees.

Ben Rhodes, Royal Mail head of marketing and commercial strategy, said: “Our people are responsible for delivering millions of precious parcels a year, and they go the extra mile to make sure that our customers’ needs are met – never more so than at Christmas time.

“We wanted to capture this spirit, as well as celebrate our postmen and women, and the job they do, from start to finish.”

For the festive season, six 10-second Christmas-themed ads will run simultaneously.
