In anticipation of the release of Dead Rising 3 for Xbox One on 22 November, Xbox is set to run a series of zombie-themed news broadcasts on Channel 5 and 5 USA.

Running from 26 October until 3 November the 30” spots take the form of live ‘breaking news’ bulletins warning of zombie attacks in the US. During the campaign run the fictitious attacks get progressively worse as the series of events unfold.

Targeting horror and zombie fans, as well as traditional gamers, the trails will air in ad breaks leading out of Channel 5’s evening news programme and around Halloween-themed programming on both channels.

A full advertorial in the Metro on Monday 4 November will follow the broadcasts continuing the story, with Transvision ‘news reports’ running that evening across 23 rail stations nationwide. Social media and announcements to core gamers through Xbox community platforms will support the activity.

“Dead Rising 3 blends a unique mix of survival horror and black comedy which fans love, so we really wanted to capture this in the TV shorts. We’re thrilled to be bringing the game to life at Hallowe’en with the help of Channel 5 and UM London,” said Anna Mostyn Williams, Xbox UK games marketing manager.

All media activity was planned by UM London, with content created in-house by Channel 5’s 5Creative team.
