Centaur Media, specialists in business information, events and marketing services, have announced the appointment of Andria Vidler to serve as the group’s new chief executive from 4 November.

Vidler arrives at Centaur from EMI Music, where she overhauled the business into a global rights management enterprise as CEO.

This followed spells at Bauer Media, building the media groups magazine and radio brands.

Patrick Taylor, chairman, commented: "I am delighted that Andria is joining Centaur. She has a proven track record as a strong and motivational leader as well as considerable experience in ensuring businesses are customer focused. She also has substantial expertise in transforming and growing established brands that are being challenged by pressures of the digital age.

"In the five months that Mark has led Centaur as interim chief executive, he has begun to re-focus the business around its core markets and driven a sharper focus on delivery, execution and collaboration. He has done a tremendous job in demanding circumstances.”

The appointment follows yesterday’s news that former Centaur CEO Geoffrey Wilmott had abandoned plans to make an offer for the company.
