Twitter is rumoured to be thinking about killing off its #Music service, which only launched six months ago.

The music service was unveiled in April following the acquisition of We Are Hunted, and on its launch hit number six in the free download chart, but numbers have since fallen.

The rumours, reported by AllThingsD, come as Twitter makes changes to its music department.

Sources have told AllThingsD that the fate of the music app is ‘nearly sealed’ following its recent performance; a move which comes as Twitter is making several other rumoured moves ahead of its planned IPO, including the launch of a direct message service and the ability to user more than 140 characters.
