Glasgow's Evening Times newspaper is launching a new TV ad that takes a cheeky dig at rival Edinburgh.

The ad shows a series of icons representing Glasgow life - taking in the likes of George Square, Hampden Park and the statue of Wellington with the obligatory cone on his head - backed by commentary from an admiring Glaswegian narrator.

But when the screen settles on a picture of a bag of chips covered in salt 'n' sauce - a staple part of the Scottish capital's cuisine - the narrator gives out an unimpressed: "Urgh, Edinburgh."

The ad, which promotes the paper's strapline 'nobody knows Glasgow better', will air for the first time on STV on Monday (21 October).
