Social Tech, Social Change fund awards £50,000 each to 10 ventures using technology to address UK's social problems

The first winners to receive financial backing from the Social Tech, Social Change fund have been announced and each has been awarded £50,000 to invest into their venture.

The fund is an initiative from the Nominet Trust and Founders Forum for Good and aims to provide support for entrepreneurs with business ideas that use technology to address major social issues in the UK.

As well as financial support, each winner will be matched up with a Founders Forum for Good ‘digital entrepreneur’ mentor.

Commonplace Digital Ltd

A digital product that engages people in shaping their community.

London Rebuilding Society

A new income maximisation and energy saving solution.

Open Utility Ltd

The world’s first peer-to-peer energy marketplace.

PlayLab London

A game, controlled by breathing, designed to ameliorate the effect of panic attacks to provide practical support to those who experience anxiety related conditions.

Adept Communications

An app that allows carers to monitor activity and medication taking of an elderly person when they are not with them.
