Lily Allen's Keane cover to be the song for the 2013 John Lewis Christmas ad
Lily Allen is rumoured to have recorded a cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know for this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert.
Over the past four years, the artist and song choice for the brand’s Christmas offering have become as anticipated as the spot itself.
Last year, Gabrielle Aplin achieved a number one with her cover of Power Of Love for the Snowman advert, while Amelia Warner’s rendition of The Smiths' Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want for the 2011 ad also saw chart success.
For the John Lewis 2010 advert, Ellie Goulding covered Elton John’s Your Song and subsequently topped the iTunes chart.
According to Music Week, Annie Lennox and PJ Harvey were also approached by the retailer’s creative agency, adam&eveddb.
Adam&eveddb declined to comment or confirm that Allen had been selected.
The new ad is expected to premiere in the coming weeks.
