DDB Brazil has been appointed to represent the four supermarkets in the Walmart chain in the region.

DDB will handle advertising for the Hiper Bompreço, Bompreço, Big, Nacional and Mercadorama stores, as well as the Walmart brand.

“Choosing DDB Brasil as our strategic partner was an important step in the consolidation of the Low Price Every Day business strategy”, said Claudio Tonello, vice-president of Walmart Brasil’s marketing and market intelligence.

“We’d like to thank all the agencies that participated in the process and displayed high levels of work which made the decision process extremely difficult. We’d also like to thank Africa, the agency that represented us for years and helped us build our brand in the Brazilian market.”

Alcir Gomes Leite, DDB Brasil’s co-president said: “We are very proud, happy and honoured to have been selected as Walmart’s advertising agency.

“I’m certain that we will do a great job together. It’s a great joy for the team that worked together to celebrate together the acquisition of the account.

Co-president Paulo Queiroz said the entire team was honoured and eager to contribute to a great brand.
