Retail expert Mary Portas has encouraged advertisers to remember that “nothing is dead if there is the possibility to reimagine it; reimagine it in the context of today.”

Speaking at the IPA Eff Fest conference in London the broadcaster and founder of retail agency Portas told the audience of ad industry executives how creativity can be the driving force behind transforming businesses.

She added: “One of the things that really gets my back up in people is a failure of imagination and creativity.”

According to Portas implementing creativity and imagination across all touchpoints has the power to inspire, excite and surprise consumers.

In a bid to inspire the creative audience Portas touched upon how creativity has enabled her to transform the fate of Harvey Nichols, where she served as creative director as well as UK charity shops and independent retailers as part of her on going television career.

Author of ‘The Portas Review: The Future of our High Streets’ her address typically referred to the state of British high streets which she said she emphatically believed had a future.
