YouTube has retained its crown as the number one brand for 18-24 year olds in the UK after being voted into the top spot for the second year running.

This saw the video sharing site see off stiff competition from the likes of Ben & Jerry’s, Facebook and Google, all of which made it to the top 10 but failed to dislodge the incumbent.

Compiled youth insights group Voxburner for their annual Youth 100 survey the report named 100 of the top brands operating in the UK amongst this specific demographic.

In parallel with this research youth communications agency Thinkhouse conducted research into why certain brands are more appealing than others, with more than a third citing a ‘brand they can relate to’.This was followed closely by offering ‘value for money’ (55 per cent) and compelling content (56 per cent).

Luke Mitchell, head of insight, Voxburner said "YouTube has come out on top again because of the broad utility it has in young people's lives every day - from music player to information provider and entertainer - and the fact it delivers a high-value experience almost every time. So much exposure to YouTube content comes through shares, young people are either inspired, amused or informed each time, leading to strong positive sentiment."
